Overview

The Cairnmillar Institute (hereafter referred to as ‘the Institute’) supports and adheres to the guidelines of the Australian Psychological Society that pertain to the regulation of students who are undertaking professional training and are in direct contact with clients. This procedure outlines the steps the Institute should take in order to provide a safe environment for clients and patients. This will be achieved in part by ensuring that students engaged on placement or field professional training, either as an individual or in a group, are suitably prepared and supported so as not to place the clients and others at risk.

Application Information

The Institute will not be able to guarantee the placement of students with disclosable court outcomes listed on the Police Check.

Students will bear the cost of obtaining the Provisional Registration Certificate, Police Check, Working with Children Check and Vaccination Record. Application can be made directly to the appropriate authorities.

The student is responsible to keep all their pre-placement documentation valid throughout the duration of all their placements. If any documentation does expire, your placement may need to be put on hold until your document has been renewed. Keep a note of your each documents expiry dates.
