Mock NPE

Our MPPP Interns need to sit a mock National Psychology Exam (NPE) as part of their course and to prepare for taking the real NPE to gain registration.

The Mock NPE is a Cairnmillar resource. The real NPE is an external exam managed by the Psychology Board of Australia (PsyBA) and AHPRA. We do our best to help prepare you for the NPE experience but have no control over the real NPE process or content.

You can access a mock NPE within your MPPP site on Canvas.

PsyBA Practice Test

The PsyBA also offer an optional ‘practice test’ through the NPE Exam Portal. The PsyBA practice test is only available after you have registered to sit your real NPE. We recommend taking the practice test in addition to having sat your Cairnmillar Mock NPE before booking to sit the real exam.

MPsych and DPsych Students

Master of Psychology (Clinical Psychology) and Doctor of Psychology (Clinical Psychology) graduates do not currently need to sit the NPE. An exception has been granted and extended to the end of 2019.

It is possible that people who graduate from one of these in 2020 or later may need to take the NPE to gain registration. If so discounted short courses may be offered to Cairnmillar gradautes who would like additional support in preparing for the NPE. More information will be provided to alumni once AHPRA advise when the NPE will be required for MPsych and DPsych graduates.
