Health Records Act: Clinical and Placement Data

Additional data management requirements apply to Health Records, this includes case notes.

In the Cairnmillar Clinic these records and their management are defined in the Clinical Governance Handbook. Contact your supervisor or the Director of Clinical Services for a copy or any further information.

While you are on placement you may need to manage health records under our policies and procedures and under the placement providers’ policies. This should be part of your Form A agreement and will be revisited multiple times during your placement. If you have any questions about health records contact your placement supervisor, your placement coordinator for more information as soon as possible.

There are both legal and ethical obligations for you to keep good records and case notes, and for you to make and keep these in a timely and secure manner.
