What is QILT?
Cairnmillar is a participant in the national Quality Indicators for Learning and Teaching (QILT) higher education surveys. The results from these surveys are published on the QILT website for future students and employers to review. You can view Cairnmillar’s currently published results on the website here: https://www.qilt.edu.au/
Unlike your internal unit evaluations, or your short informal mid-semester touchpoint survey, these QILT run surveys are run by an external company contracted by the Australian government to administer the surveys to students and graduates across Australia. As such, the invitations and reminders (and the prize draws) are all run by an external company called the Social Research Centre (SRC) and will not come from a Cairnmillar email account. If you have any comments, questions or concerns about your QILT surveys, such as the SES or GOS, you should check in with the SRC or QILT team directly, in the first instance.
Student Experience Survey (SES)
Invitations to participate in the SES are sent to all Semester 1 enrolled students, it normally happens in July.
We recommend completing your SES as soon as possible after being emailed your invitation, the SRC runs multiple prize draws during the collection period and you get an entry in every draw that happens after you completed the survey.
The survey collects information that helps both higher education institutions and the government improve teaching and learning outcomes, and reports on multiple facets of the student experience.

Graduate Outcomes Survey (GOS)
The GOS is a survey of students who have completed their course and are eligible to graduate or have just graduated during the survey collection. Invitations to the GOS go out to recently completed students in either May or November. Most Cairnmillar graduates will be surveyed in May.
The GOS includes two components. Graduate Satisfaction and Graduate Employment. Both are important quality measures for us, for employers and for our current and future students.

It is also very helpful if you can provide contact details for your employer(s) if at all possible so that they can be invited to participate in the Employer Satisfaction Survey later in the year. Cairnmillar currently has what we consider very good employer satisfaction, but our response numbers are too low to report at this stage.
GOS-L
The SRC and QILT program also run a Graduate Outcomes Survey – Longitudinal (GOS-L). If you completed the original GOS you may be invited again to participate in the GOS-L around five years after you graduated.
