Final Submission Date: First Friday in November
Prior to Submission
- See here for a list of points to consider before submitting your thesis (Masters Clinical Thesis Submission Checklist & Release of Thesis Form)
- The format of your thesis should be in line with a target journal that you and your supervisor agree upon. The only restriction is that it should be between 5000 and 8000 words.
- Your Supervisor will nominate your examiners at least FOUR (4) weeks prior to your submission date. The Examiners for your thesis will typically remain anonymous to the candidate (you) prior to the examination process. You may advise your Supervisor of any potential Examiners whom you do not wish your thesis to be examined by, with reasonable rationale. Examiners may or may not choose to identify themselves to the candidate during the examination process.
Preparing Thesis for Submission
Preparing for submission (at least 2 working days prior):
- Confirm with your Supervisor by email that the final draft of your thesis is in a form suitable for submission and examination.
When you are ready to submit your thesis
- Complete the online Submission Date Confirmation and Release of Thesis form (https://my.cairnmillar.edu.au/thesis-release-form/) Note: this form includes confirmation of your Statement of Authorship. You no longer need to include the statement within your actual thesis.
- Submit your thesis (Word format) via Canvas. Ensure you have included a title page at the start, as per this page (Masters Clinical Thesis Submission Checklist & Release of Thesis Form)
- Supplementary Material – Once you have consulted with your Primary Supervisor about what supplementary material is required to be submitted, make sure to share a OneDrive link (OneDrive link instructions) with your Primary Supervisor, clearly labelled with your name, student number and supervisor (eg SupMatThesisStudentname13355) with all relevant supplementary material, such as statement of authorship, research questionnaires/surveys, ethical approval documents plus any quantitative data and statistical software files (i.e. SPSS, SAS, M-Plus).
Your thesis will be sent to two independent Examiners for assessment.
Note: Thesis marking can take up to three months. You will be emailed your final result once your thesis has been assessed by the Examiners along with the blinded marking reports and any suggested corrections. You cannot receive a complete academic transcript without your thesis having been marked.
Library Cataloguing
Once you have received the Examiners’ reports and feedback, please submit your final thesis to the Library. If one or both Examiners have indicated ‘Required Major Revisions’ before passing, work with your Supervisor to make these changes before submitting your thesis to the Library.
