What is the difference between the MPP and MPPP in the 5+1 program?

Please see the Cairnmillar Professional Psychology Info Sheet for more information on our 5+1 programs and Dual Masters options.

All 5+1 pathway students start under the APAC accredited 5th year program, the Master of Professional Psychology (MPP) enrolment for registration purposes. If you wish to undertake the Master of Professional Psychology Practice (MPPP) dual masters stream to finish your internship (+1 year) with us you will still be able to transition into that program and undertake your internship with us on completion of the MPP subject to maintaining the required WAM (normally 70%) and professional suitability (e.g. a good record of academic and general conduct and a good report from your placement supervisor in your MPP year).

If you accepted an offer in the MPP and MPPP 5+1 program you will be admitted to the combined 5+1 program at Cairnmillar starting with the MPP course. Subject to satisfactory performance and completion in the Cairnmillar MPP you will then be invited to optionally continue into the Master of Professional Psychology Practice (MPPP) to complete your internship (+1) year under the MPPP program with Cairnmillar in 2021. Both programs can be completed within 2 years combined in most cases, although specific situations may vary for the internship. The MPP alone can be completed in 1 year and you can easily exit at the end of the MPP year if you want.
