Events and Things To Do (International Students)

It should come as no surprise that Melbourne – given its size and multicultural make-up – offers a considerable amount of things to do. Below are several websites that provide updated information about events that may be of interest to you. In general, don’t be afraid to go and check things out – once you start many other things arise which you may not have expected!

The Study Melbourne website has an events page, which includes academic training events. Many of these events (e.g., a 2-day trip to an area outside of Melbourne) are heavily subsidised, which means that you pay very little for the great experience you get! Please note that they also offer fortnightly webinars which you need to contact Dr. David Butler about to be able to join.

The City of Melbourne website has a ‘what’s on’ page featuring the latest on festivals relating to music, art, food, and sport.

Eventbrite and Visit Victoria also offer multiple options similar to the above.

The Visit Melbourne website outlines music festivals.

The Victorian Multicultural Commission website has information about cultural events.

If sight seeing, or visiting the outdoors for bushwalks, etc. are also your style, then the Visit Melbourne website also offers some gems to consider.

SBS offers television and radio programs in multiple languages, with film festivals highlighting specific cultures happening regularly.

Finally, food and drink options can be explored by the Visit Melbourne website.
