The Cairnmillar Institute Library subscribes to both full text peer-reviewed scholarly material as well as abstracting and bibliographic record databases. Below is a brief overview of each database held by EBSCO Host, ProQuest and GALE OneFile.

EBSCO Host
Our EBSCO Host Suite of databases contains several specialist psychology & psychotherapy databases which together provide a comprehensive coverage to literature on psychology, behavioural sciences, medicine and associated topics.
- Psychology and Behavioral Sciences Collection
Psychology & Behavioural Sciences Collection is a full-text database for psychologists, counsellors, researchers and students. It provides hundreds of full-text psychology journals, including many indexed in APA PsycInfo. It offers particularly strong coverage in child and adolescent psychology and counselling.
- APA PsychINFO
Abstracting only database. This is the American Psychological Association’s (APA) renowned resource for abstracts of scholarly journal articles, book chapters, books, and dissertations, and contains records and summaries dating as far back as the 1600s.
- APA PsychARTICLES
Full text of all items from the APA, Educational Publishing Foundation, Canadian Psychological Association and others. Contains full text, peer-reviewed scholarly and scientific articles in psychology with coverage spanning from 1894 to the present and nearly all APA journals go back to Volume 1, Issue 1.
- MEDLINE Complete
Contains both bibliographic abstracts as well as full text for over 1,800 journals and provides authoritative medical information on medicine, nursing, dentistry, veterinary medicine, the health care system, pre-clinical sciences, and much more.
- Academic Search Complete
Contains both abstracts and full-text resources. Provides comprehensive scholarly, multi-disciplinary full-text database, with more than 8,500 full-text periodicals, including more than 7,300 peer-reviewed journals. In addition to full text, this database offers indexing and abstracts for more than 12,500 journals and a total of more than 13,200 publications including monographs, reports, conference proceedings, etc.
- CINAHL with Full Text
Contains full text for more than 610 nursing & allied health journals. Full-text coverage dates back to 1981.
- OpenDissertations
Abstracting only database. OpenDissertations is an open-access database built to assist researchers in locating both historic and contemporary dissertations and theses. It incorporates EBSCO’s previously released American Doctoral Dissertations and features additional dissertation metadata contributed by select colleges and universities from around the world.
- Child Development & Adolescent Studies
Abstracting and Bibliographic database. Contains book reviews and abstracts from hundreds of journals and a bibliography of thousands of technical reports, books, book chapters, theses and dissertations covering biomedical and social sciences worldwide are indexed. More than 342,000 records are included with over 10,000 new records added each year.
Video database. Contains psychotherapy videos that provide a gateway for students, educators, and practitioners to witness first-hand, proven approaches and common obstacles faced during therapy sessions. Videos in this database cover cognitive therapy approaches to more than 250 topics, including life satisfaction, self-perception, and cognitive distortions.
ProQuest Psychology Database
This database contains both full-text resources and abstracting records, which encompass a wide range of topics. In addition to clinical and social psychology, it also provides coverage of related disciplines including genetics, psychology of business and economics, communication, criminology, addiction, neurology, social welfare, and more.
GALE OneFile Psychology Collection
Contains both abstract and full-text resources. Provides access to authoritative periodical content supporting research in all fields of psychology— abnormal, biological, cognitive, comparative, developmental, personality, quantitative, social and all areas of applied psychology.
