All placement students must submit a WWCC check (or equivalent depending on the State you reside in) to Sonia Online by the specified due date.
Students are required to have a current Working with Children Check at all times during their course of study. Students may apply for a ‘voluntary‘ card if they are not being paid whilst on placement. If they are being paid, they should apply for an ‘employee‘ WWCC.
Registered Teachers cards can also be accepted in the place of a Working with Children Check. If is up to the student to keep this valid throughout their placement/s.
If you have moved from interstate or overseas, you will need to obtain a Victorian WWCC as there is no single national system setting out the requirements for obtaining a Working with Children Check. Each State and Territory has their own legislative requirements and it is necessary to fulfil the requirements in the jurisdiction in which you are working or studying (for international students, this is the State in which you are enrolled).
A colour scan or image of both sides of your WWCC must be submitted.
Apply here: www.workingwithchildren.vic.gov.au
VIT Registration (Victorian Institute of Teaching)
If you are registered with VIT and have a VIT card, you are not required to apply for WWCC as this information was checked during the VIT registration process. Just upload an image of both sides of your card to your pre-placement folder or a screenshot/copy of your Digital Registration card.

Interstate / Online Students
If you are enrolled in the Post Registration (Clinical Psychology) or Master of Professional Psychology (MPP) course and located outside of Victoria, you need to supply a copy of your relevant state’s WWCC card. If you plan to do child-related work in Victoria you’ll need to apply for a Working with Children Check, unless you’re exempt under the Act. If you are unsure if you require a Victorian WWCC in relation to telehealth contact with clients within Victoria from interstate, please enquire via the online form on the WWCC website.
Blue Card information for QLD students – if you need your card linked to CMI for placement purposes, please request this by emailing your card number and D.O.B to placements@cairnmillar.edu.au.
If you have any further queries about this, please contact your Placement Coordinator.
Please Note: The original Working with Children Check will be retained by the student, which may at a later date be requested directly by the host organisation conducting the placement.
