Certified records or documents?

If you have requested a copy of your transcript, results notice, or other official letter then the document we give you (either electronic or physical copy) is the original. If you have requested the document by email it will include a security certificate and e-signature.

Certified Copies

Original documents do not normally need to be certified as a true and correct copy.

Only photocopies normally need to be certified in the traditional sense (someone checking that the copy exactly matches the original). This should not normally be required of you unless you have to submit a physical copy of a document and cannot or do not want to submit your original document(s).

See this BDM fact sheet for more information on who can certify a copy of your documents: http://www.bdm.dotag.wa.gov.au/_files/BDM50_Certify_Documents.pdf

If the copy of the document is being submitted for Cairnmillar purposes only (e.g. applying for another Cairnmillar course or submitting your placement documents) then Reception can also certify your documents and have a stamp to do so.

Academics staff can certify documents for all purposes normally including government and other university applications. You can also get Reception to stamp your photocopy, but not sign it, and then take it to an academic staff member (if they have agreed to help you with the document certification – they are not required to).

This is not the same as a security certification or security banner for an electronic transcript.

Electronic Signature or Security Banner

As of October 2019 all electronic transcripts will be issued with a certified (security certificate) tamper proof security banner. If you have an old electronic transcript and need a secured or electronically signed one, just make a new request and the updated transcript will come through with the certification.

Not to be confused with a certified copy of a photocopied document. See: Certified records or documents?
