Change fee payment type (e.g. from upfront to FEE-HELP)

You can change from FEE-HELP to upfront (direct) payments or if you are eligible for FEE-HELP you can change from upfront (direct) payments to FEE-HELP.

You can change your fee payment preferences for a given semester any time before the relevant upfront fee payment deadline or before the Census Date. You cannot normally change after a payment has been made, but we can change future invoices for future units.

To change your fee payment type, students must submit the official Change to Funding Type form from your student account. Students requesting to change from upfront to FEE-HELP are only eligible to change their payment type once enrolled into units for the relevant semester, and must submit their request prior to the semester commencing. Please ensure if you are requesting to change from upfront to FEE-HELP that you have enrolled into units for the relevant semester.

If you are changing to FEE-HELP, we strongly encourage you to read through the below articles to understand your obligations with FEE-HELP:

International to Domestic Fees – Change in Citizenship Status

International students, permanent residents and most New Zealand citizens must pay upfront (direct) and cannot change to FEE-HELP unless eligible. If your status changes while you are studying you may be able to apply for FEE-HELP after you become a citizen. Send evidence of your citizenship change to education@cairnmilalr.edu.au as soon as possible for further advice.

For international students who become permanent residents or New Zealand citizens during their studies, evidence of the citizenship change will entitle you to pay the domestic student rate from the next census date onward however you will still need to pay upfront until you become an Australian citizen.
