When will I get access to my units on Canvas?

Canvas Early Access Period

Enrolled students will get access to course work units on Canvas before the start of Week 1 for the purpose of timetabling. For units that have multiple streams/classes, students will be able to select their preferred class stream via the “Groups” function in each of their Canvas Tiles. 

Refer to How do I enrol into units? – my.CMI for instructions on how to ‘Choose a unit stream (class time)’.

Note: some units (e.g. placement) may be available sooner than others.

Canvas Timetable Access Period Dates for 2026:

  • 2026 Semester 1 : From, 2 February 2026
  • 2026 Semester 2 : From, 29 June 2026 (12noon) to 10 July 2026 (12noon)

Please note that course content and assesment information will NOT be available at this time as this period is simply for timetabling purposes. 

Full Canvas Access Period Dates for 2026:

  • 2026 Semester 1 : From, 9 February 2026
  • 2026 Semester 2 : From, 6 July 2026
